Terms & Conditions

Farohirecar Faro · Faro, Portugal · Last updated June 2026

1. Introduction & acceptance

These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the Farohirecar Faro website and the car-hire comparison and booking services we make available for Faro, Portugal. By accessing this site, browsing car-hire options, or starting a booking through us, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the site or our booking links.

These terms apply alongside any rules, rental agreement, and terms set by the individual car-hire supplier you ultimately book with. Where the supplier's own rental contract differs from what is described here, the supplier's contract governs the actual rental.

2. About our service

Farohirecar Faro is an independent affiliate and comparison platform for car hire in Faro and the wider Algarve region. We are not a car-rental company, we do not own or operate a vehicle fleet, and we do not supply rental cars ourselves. Our role is to help you find, compare and start a booking with third-party car-hire suppliers.

Bookings made through our search are processed by our booking partner, LocalRent, which connects you with the supplier you choose. The actual rental contract is formed directly between you and the chosen car-hire supplier. We may earn a commission when you complete a booking via our links, at no extra cost to you.

3. Bookings & the rental agreement

When you select a vehicle and proceed to book, you do so under the terms presented at the time of booking by the supplier and our booking partner. You are responsible for reviewing the supplier's rental conditions, the included mileage, fuel policy and any extras before you confirm.

On collection you will normally be required to sign the supplier's rental agreement and present the required documents. That signed agreement, together with the supplier's terms, forms the binding rental contract. We are not a party to that contract and cannot amend, override or enforce its terms.

4. Prices, payment, deposits & holds

Prices shown on our site are provided by suppliers and our booking partner and may change based on availability, dates, vehicle category and the time of your search. The price confirmed at checkout is the price that applies to your booking, subject to the supplier's conditions.

Currency conversion, card-issuer fees and the exact deposit amount are determined by the supplier and your bank, not by us.

5. Driver requirements & documents

Driver eligibility is set by each supplier. As a general guide, to collect a vehicle in Portugal you will need to bring:

Minimum and maximum age limits, young-driver or senior surcharges, and the need for an International Driving Permit (for licences issued outside the EU/EEA) vary by supplier. Please check the conditions of your chosen supplier before travelling, as the supplier may refuse the rental if requirements are not met.

6. Insurance & excess

Insurance is provided by the car-hire supplier, not by Farohirecar Faro. Rentals typically include a basic level of cover (such as collision damage and theft protection) with an excess — the amount you remain liable for in the event of damage or theft. Suppliers usually offer optional excess-reduction products at the desk.

Always read the supplier's insurance details for what is and is not covered (for example tyres, windscreen, underbody, interior and lost keys are often excluded from basic cover). Any insurance, waiver or protection you purchase is a contract between you and the supplier or its insurer.

7. Cancellations, changes & refunds

Cancellation, amendment and refund rules are governed by the terms attached to your specific booking and the supplier's policy. Some rates are fully flexible and refundable up to a stated deadline; others are non-refundable. The applicable conditions are shown before you confirm.

To cancel or change a booking, follow the instructions on your confirmation or contact our booking partner. Where a refund is due, it is processed by the supplier or booking partner under their terms; we cannot guarantee refunds outside those terms. No-shows and late collections may be treated as non-refundable.

8. Fuel, tolls & extras

Fuel policies differ between suppliers — common options are "full-to-full" (return the car with the same fuel level) and "full-to-empty". Returning a vehicle with less fuel than agreed, or late, may incur charges set by the supplier.

Much of the Algarve's motorway network, including the A22 (Via do Infante), uses electronic tolls with no toll booths. Charges are recorded automatically by camera. Ask your supplier how tolls are handled for your vehicle — many offer an electronic toll device or a post-rental billing arrangement, and admin fees may apply. You are responsible for any tolls, fines or penalties incurred during your rental.

9. Our liability & disclaimers

Because Farohirecar Faro is a comparison and affiliate platform and not the car-hire supplier, we are not responsible for the availability, condition or roadworthiness of any vehicle, the conduct of any supplier, or the performance of the rental contract. We provide information and listings on an "as is" basis and aim for accuracy, but supplier-provided prices, availability and conditions can change without notice.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, damage, additional cost or inconvenience arising from your dealings with a supplier, from errors in supplier-provided information, or from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be excluded under the applicable law.

10. Intellectual property

The content, layout, text, graphics and branding on this site are owned by or licensed to Farohirecar Faro and are protected by intellectual-property laws. You may view and use the site for your own personal, non-commercial purpose of researching and booking car hire. You may not copy, reproduce, republish or distribute any part of the site without our prior written permission. Supplier names and logos remain the property of their respective owners.

11. Governing law & disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Any dispute relating to these terms or your use of our site shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent Portuguese courts, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have in your country of residence. Disputes about the rental itself are governed by the supplier's rental contract and its own terms.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in our service, our partners or the law. The current version is always available on this page, with the "Last updated" date shown above. Continued use of the site after changes are posted means you accept the revised terms.
